			<description>
US President George W. Bush's last Group of Eight summit only inched
forward the fight against climate change but drew the battle lines more
sharply than ever between rich and poor nations.

The G8 major
industrial powers agreed at a three-day summit in northern Japan to cut
carbon emissions blamed for global warming by at least half by 2050,
the strongest language yet signed by Bush.

			<link>http://globalwarminglife.com/articles/politics-news/climate-change-talks-inconclusive-at-g8-20080711536/</link>
<description>Nearly everyone had something to cheer about on Wednesday after the major industrial powers and a big group of emerging nations pledged to pursue &amp;ldquo;deep cuts&amp;rdquo; in emissions of heat-trapping gases in coming decades.

President Bush, who had insisted that any commitment to combat global warming must involve growing economies as well as the rich nations, recruited China and India to the table and received rare accolades from some environmentalists for doing so.

			<link>http://globalwarminglife.com/articles/politics-news/dick-cheney-censors-climate-change-health-risks-20080710534/</link>
<description>Last October, Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), testified before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee about the &quot;Human Impacts of Global Warming.&quot; Gerberding told the committee that global warming &quot;is anticipated to have a broad range of impacts on the health of Americans,&quot; but she gave few specifics, instead focusing on the CDC's current preparation plans.

Soon after Gerberding delivered her testimony, CDC officials revealed that the White House had &quot;eviscerated&quot; her testimony by editing it down from 14 pages to four.

			<title>Dick Cheney's Office Edited Global WarmingTestimony</title>
			<link>http://globalwarminglife.com/articles/politics-news/dick-cheney%27s-office-edited-global-warmingtestimony-20080708533/</link>
<description>Vice President Dick Cheney&amp;rsquo;s office was involved in removing statements
on health risks posed by global warming from a draft of a health
official&amp;rsquo;s Senate testimony last year, a former senior government
environmental official said on Tuesday.

The former official, Jason K. Burnett, made the assertion and described
similar incidents in a three-page letter to Senator Barbara Boxer, a
California Democrat who is the chairwoman of the Senate Environment and
Public Works Committee. He then stood with her at a news conference at
which she excoriated the Bush administration.
